제목 Preparation and physical properties of modified PMMA resin using P(BA-co-EGDMA)/PMMA core-shell composite particles
초록 PMMA resin is widely used as a dental restorative material or surface-coating material of machinery because of its excellent weather resistance and high transparency. However, the range of application is limited by its inherent brittleness. In this study, improving its impact resistance, Poly(butyl acrylate-co-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) (PBA-co-PEGDMA)/Poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) core-shell composite particles, consist of the rubbery material in the core and material compatible with matrix in the outer shell, were prepared by two-stage emulsion polymerization. In addition, the refractive index of core phase was controlled by varying the amount of crosslinking agent (EGDMA). Consequently, various content of polymeric particles were blended with PMMA matrix. The shape, morphology and transparency of the core-shell particles were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and UV-visible spectroscopy, respectively. The impact strength of the modified resin containing dispersed polymeric particles was measured using a Mini Max impact tester at room temperature.
