Electrochemical disinfection is one of the superior candidates for drinking water treatment. Blue TiO2 nanotube array (Blue TiO2 NTA) electrode, which is recently developed anode material for electrochemical process, showed excellent performance on producing high concentration of oxidants such as chlorine (Cl2) and hydroxyl radical (∙OH) in electrochemical system. Because those oxidants are known as effective disinfection compounds, in this study, electrochemical disinfection performance of the Blue TiO2 NTA electrode was evaluated. As target microorganism, Pseudomonas aeruginosa 01 (PA01) was used. Electrochemical disinfection process was performed with 0.1 M NaCl or 0.1 M phosphate buffer and disinfection performance was compared. To evaluate disinfection performance, concentration of produced disinfectants, inactivation of target microorganism, and microorganism attachment on the electrode were investigated. |
