Manufacturing and investigating the tube type actuator for electrochemical device |

In this study, we could make the tube type actuator to have a great potential for active catheter, actuator and sensor. The hollow type polymer was fabricated by stacking both nafion films and a wire steel, which located in the inner center, with a heat-compression method and followed by removing the steel. The metal electrode was deposited by electroless plating on the surface of the polymer to make a actuator. The ultimate purpose of our study is the performance enhancement of the actuator having the improved bending deformation and stiffness by modulating the various factors such as film thickness, wire steel thickness and electrode conditions. The membrane properties of stacked nafion films and micro actuators were analyzed and characterized by EDS and FE-SEM. Displacement, initial bending deformation rate and maximum load were measured using a displacement measuring system. |
