Investigation of electrochemical characteristics in solid state dye-sensitized solar cells is inevitably required in order to clarify the origin of charge transfer resistance at counter electrode. Using solid state polymer electrolyte, the charge transfer resistance can be increased owing to both poor interfacial contact between Pt layer and solid polymer electrolyte and low ionic conductivity in the polymer electrolyte. Therefore, electrochemical studies such as cyclic voltammetry and linear sweep voltammetry using microelectrode /symmetric cells were performed to measure the diffusion coefficient of iodide/triiodide redox couple and to obtain the number of electrons affected the capacitance of counter electrode. We have focused on the cation effect at the counter electrode which determines several parameters such as number of electrons, capacitance of interface on the counter electrode, and consequently electron transport reaction in polymer electrolyte. |
