The far-infrared ray (FIR) emitting materials, known as an electromagnetic wave with a wavelength of 3㎛ to 1 mm, have been widely used as building materials, health products, household utensils, textiles and etc. However, FIR emitting ceramics have been rarely studied on packaging applications. In this study, FIR ceramic was incorporated as filler emitting to improve properties of polymer films and resultantly expedite in the packaging fields. Maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene (PE-g-MA) was used as compatibilizer to improve the miscibility of filler and polymer. The physical properties of composite films such as mechanical properties, thermal properties and barrier properties were thoroughly investigated as a function of FIR ceramics content. Specifically, the effects of FIR ceramics on the shelf-life and quality of mushroom were also investigated. |
