The 1996 Nobel Prize for Chemistry was awarded to Harold W. Kroto, Robert F. Curl and Richard E. Smalley for their discovery of truncated icosahedrons and was named Buckminsterfullerene (C60). Ever since the commercial availability of synthetically useful amounts of C60 and higher fullerenes (C70, C76, C78 and C84) much work has been done to investigate the physical properties and the reactivity for the applications such as Solar cell, Thin Film Transistor (TFT), Memory and Sensing. Here we report new C60 and C70 derivatives containing alkylated thiophene units in order to utilize them for OTFTs and Solar cells based on solution-processing technique. |
