CO2 capture/separation using gas hydrates from pre-combustion processes is being considered as an economical alternative. It is thus required to design gas hydrate-based CO2 capture/separation with high selectivity and fast kinetics. While the relative amount of water to gas is an important consideration, most previous studies did not consider it and the relevant experimental data for hydrate kinetics (the rate/amount of hydrate formation) are not available. In this study, the kinetics of CO2 (40%)/H2 (60%) hydrate was evaluated with different water to gas ratios (0.4167, 0.2667, 0.1167), chemical additives (1.0 mol% tetrahydrofuran or 5 vol% cyclopentane), and with and without memory effect. The results were characterized in terms of the gas composition and water conversion. These results will be used to enhance the efficiency of gas hydrate-based CO2 capture/separation process. |
