제목 Preparation and Gas Separation Property of Cross-linked Sulfonated Polyimide Membrane for Fuel Cell Application
초록 Proton exchange membrane (PEM) for PEMFC should be needed to fulfill critical requirements such as excellent hydrolytic stability under acidic condition, high mechanical strength (> 20 MPa in the dry state), low dimensional stability (< 5 %), thermal stability, and low contact resistance between catalyzed gas diffusion layer (GDL) and PEM in membrane-electrode-assembly (MEA). PEM should be highly permeable to positive ions (> 10-1 S/cm in aqueous solution) such as proton and hydronium ion, and also be an effective barrier to fuel molecules such as hydrogen and oxygen.
Sulfonated polyimide (SPI) as a potential PEM has a lot of merits such as its easy fabrication, high proton conductivity, excellent thermal, chemical and mechanical stability. In this present study, two different kinds of cross-linked SPI membranes were prepared by the introduction of aliphatic crosslinkers with or without an additional negatively charged fixed ion group. The O2, N2, and H2 gas permeabilities and O2/N2, O2/H2 selectivities of the SPI membranes as a barrier were investigated in order to observe the structure-property relationship including cross-linking effect.
