제목 Preparation of dental acrylic resin toughened by core-shell impact modifier and its physical properties
초록 Acrylic resin is widely used as a denture base material because of its excellent weather resistance and high transparency. However, acrylic resin has inherent brittleness. To improve its impact strength, therefore, core-shell composite particle composed of a rubbery core(poly(butyl acrylate-co-acrylic acid) (PBA-co-PAA)) and a glassy shell(poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)) was used as a impact modifier in dental acrylic resin. PBA-co-PAA/PMMA core-shell composite particles were prepared by two-stage emulsion polymerization. The shape, morphology and transparency of the core-shell particles were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and UV-visible spectroscopy, respectively. The impact strength of the resin modified with core-shell particles was measured using a charpy impact tester at room temperature.
