제목 Small molecules for solid state light-emitting electrochemical Cells
초록 The active layer in LECs are processed from solution. The operational mechanism involves the migration of ions in response to an applied voltages which allows charge carrier injection from air-stable electrodes and drive at low voltages to give luminescence. The major active material in LECs are based on ionic transition metal complexes (iTMCs) and polymer materials. However, the iTMC-LECs are based on the low abundant and high cost metals which renders large scale production. The synthesis and purification complexity of polymer and neutral nature leads to the phase separation in thin films which results low efficiency devices. In recent years, organic small molecule based materials have showed high performed lighting devices over other materials. We mainly focused on the design and synthesis of charged organic small molecules for the use in LEC device fabrication.
