The development of mechanical robust solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) enables to solve safety issues by preventing lithium dendrite formation that has been observed in conventional liquid electrolyte. Here, we prepared the SPEs with a fully formulated epoxy resin and a solvating electrolyte containing Li salt, glymes and Ionic liquid (IL), by a simple thermal curing process. The cross-linked epoxy-based SPEs have the ability to form a bicontinuous structure that can provide high mechanical properties and maximize ionic conductivity through polymerization induced phase separation. Increasing the solvating electrolyte content leads to the flexibility in our SPEs due to the more connected epoxy structure. We systematically investigate the effect of Li salt on ionic conductivity, morphology, mechanical and thermal properties using dielectric spectroscopy, field-emission electron microscopy, dynamic mechanical analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry, respectively. |
