Programmable stimuli-responsive materials are attractive to realize shape reconfigurable devices. In particular, magneto-responsive materials are capable of room temperature actuation in a dry environment unlike thermo- and chemical-responsive systems. Here, we prepared microarray composed of magnetically active polymeric composites via replica molding. Iron particles are dispersed in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix as a magnetic component and external magnetic field is applied for actuation. Two different dispersion states, random dispersion and vertical alignment, of magnetic particles are compared. In this presentation, we report effect of particle alignment within microarray by using these two model systems at various magnetic field intensities. |
