As a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) materials and theragnosis, magnetic nanoparticles are biomaterials used in various field. However, magnetic particles have several drawbacks. One of the drawbacks is the amount of low drug accumulation in cancer lesions. However most anticancer drugs have low cancer targeting efficiency. We devised a magnetic nanoparticle combining photosensitizer and polysaccharide (MNPP) to overcome these drawbacks and obtain better therapeutic effects. Because of the cancer targeting moiety, polysaccharide, MNPP accumulates cancer and has a good therapeutic effect. In addition, when laser irradiation and magnetic field are given, it is possible to treat cancer by the hyperthermia and photodynamic therapy (PDT). We successfully discovered tumors in mice through MRI. Also, we demonstrated the hyperthermia and PDT combination efficacy of MNPP with enhanced synergy in cancer. MNPP is expected to further develop cancer treatment levels. |
