Low affinity between metal nanoparticles and polymers makes it difficult to produce highly dispersible nanocomposites. In this study, to overcome this drawback organic materials and nanocomposites containing various metal ions are synthesized through transition metal coordination bond with certain organic ligand having great affinity with transition metal. Cu(COD)Cl is initially prepared by treatment CuCl with HCl, followed by ligand(1,5 cyclooctadiene)incorporation. Thereafter, a copper methacrylate complex was prepared by reaction with sodium methacrylate. The copper methacrylate complexhas been co-polymerized with several different monomers such as styrene, acrylamide, MMA through a radical initiator polymerization using AIBN. Finally, various composition of co-polymers containing Cu ion can be produced, and these polymers shows different behavior on sequential oxidation of copper after reducing copper ion into cuppor nanoparticles. TGA, TEM, FT-IR, EDS are used to analyze the properties of each nanocomposite. |
