Well-defined Ladder Polyphenylsilsesquioxanes (Mw=10,000 g/mol, PDI=2.1) were synthesized in one-batch via hydrolysis condensation using base catalyst. Silanol End groups were encapped with ATRP initiating groups from which styrene, n-butyl acrylate, and random copolymers of various compositions of styrene and n-butyl acrylate were polymerized. A conventional homogeneous CuCl/dNbpy ATRP system was utilized. ATRP of the hybrid star polymers showed living character (PDI<1.2) and were synthesized well. Synthesized hybrid block copolymers were characterized using 1H NMR, 29Si NMR, FT-IR, TGA, GPC, LS, while morphology studies on AFM showed interesting morphologies for the random block copolymers according to their monomer compositions. |
