A Systematic Study on the Dispersion of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Using Surfactants |
초록 |
Carbon nanotubes constitute a novel class of nanomaterials with a remarkable spectrum of applications in diverse domains. However, the insufficient dispersability of carbon nanotubes in water and most of the organic solvents limits radically their application potential. In this study, we demonstrate a facile method to disperse single-walled carbon nanotubes via a supramolecular approach at a high concentration in aqueous solution by using different types of surfactants. These surfactants include three types, the Igepal (neutral), cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (cationic), and sodium dodecylsulfate (anionic). The effect of the concentration and the minimum concentration of the different surfactants on the dispersability has been investigated and optimized for specific experimental conditions. All three surfactants could disperse the nanotubes well at the optimum concentration, which was found to be slightly higher than that of their critical micelle concentration. |
