초록 | Urushiol-Based Nanofilm for functional dental appliances via layer-by-layer assembly Hyejoong Jeong, Jinkee Hong* One of the essential medical treatments of dentistry is orthodontics. According to increase esthetic needs, transparent clear overlay appliances (COAs) are generally used to retain straightened teeth. However, COAs are easily worn out and broken within couple of months. In this study, we coated COAs with a nanofilm based-on urushiol, a durable plant coating material, by layer-by-layer assembly technique. Urushiol can be polymerized by simple thermal treatment and provided several functions for COAs. Higher mechanical property was assessed by work of fracture at a macro-scale comparing with uncoated COA. Additionally, biocompatibility of films was examined using periodontal ligament cells and intrinsic hydrophobicity was measured by contact angle. |
