For better and greener water-remediation process, photocatalysts need to be involved in the water purification process, and improved their light-harvesting ability, thus, high visible-light harvesting ability is essential to maximize the photocatalytic activity. Here, we developed ordered nanoporous TiO2–Fe2O3 composites with different molar ratio of Ti:Fe, which showed high surface area with large pore volumes, to suggest optimal Ti:Fe ratio for high photocatalytic activity, and prove the effect of heterojunctions in the TiO2–Fe2O3 heterostructures. Among various molar Ti:Fe ratios, ordered nanoporous TiO2-Fe2O3 (Ti:Fe = 1:1) showed the highest photocatalytic activity under both UV and visible light. This features would be explained by large surface area of the catalyst(increased actives sites to produce reactive oxygen species), and more stable charge separation ability at heterojunctions between Fe2O3 and TiO2. |
