Until recently, most studies with hollow nanoreactors have focused on realizing efficient catalyst systems. Hollow silica nanosphere as a reaction matrix is an excellent tool for synthesizing and modifying new hybrid nanocrystals which can be used in various applying fields such as catalyst and bio-sensor. Multicomponent hybrid nanocrystals have two or more discrete domains of chemically different species combined in a single nanocrystal. The integration of different functionalities in individual nanocrystals can endow them with novel properties and unique applicability which cannot be achieved with single component nanocrystals. Also, a different modification of the interior and exterior surface of the hollow silica nanospheres can be applicable as drug delivery carriers in MRI. Moreover, a modification of capping ligand of QD with chiral ligand led to induce circular dichroism signal within plasmonic band gap region of QD, which can be used a detection of chiral biomaterials. |
