High performance thermoelectric materials have been developed with the introduction of nanotechnology and bulk nanostructured materials have a promising potential in commercial applications because it has significant advantages in that it can be mass-produced in a form compatible with commercially available devices. We propose a strategy for thermoelectric composite powders resulted from uniform mixing of thermoelectric material powder and nanoparticles synthesized via colloidal chemical route. Colloidal chemical routes are widely utilized and well-developed methods for the synthesis of various nanocrystals such as metals, semiconductors, and oxides. By controlling the colloidal stability of nanoparticle through ligand exchange, thermoelectric composite powders can be obtained easily and quickly, and consequently bulk nanostructured thermoelectric materials can be successfully fabricated. |
