Sc-CO2 is cheap, nontoxic and nonflammable. But polar chemicals are insoluble in CO2. Recently, many researchers who have been working on solving this problem discovered formation of emlusion that polar chemicals of nano or micro size droplets in diameter were dispersed in CO2. In this study, first we synthesised F-AOT surfactant which has both CO2-philic side and hydro-philic side and measured the solubility of this surfactant in sc-CO2 according to change of weight percent of surfactant in CO2. By using this surfactant we formed a microemulsion in w/c (water in CO2) system and measured cloud point (CP) at each temperature and pressure. Also, while weight percent of w/c is changed, we measured CP of each temperature and pressure at constant Wo (water to surfactant molar ratio) and we measured CPs according to changing Wo by the same method. From this experiment, we found out this system has one CP and domain look like CP. We consider the region between them as microemulsion stability region. From these results, we learned CP of this system depend on Wo and the amount of CO2. |
