Stimuli-responsive polymers have been of research interests due to their potential in many applications such as integrated optical devices, sensors and drug delivery agents. Especially, polymers which can respond to multiple stimuli have been of challenge because the polymers can show various self-assembly behavior by different stimuli. In this study, dual-stimuli responsive behaviors of rod-coil type block copolymers were investigated. Chain-growth condensation polymerization (CGCP) and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) were used to synthesize well-defined rod-coil block copolymers containing light-responsive azobenzene and temperature-responsive 2-(2-methoxyethoxy) ethyl methacrylate (MEO2MA) and oligo(ethylene glycol) methyl methacrylate (OEGMA). Detailed synthetic scheme and stimuli-responsive behaviors will be presented. |
