Carbon nanotubes have found recently great interest due to their potential applications as biosensors, chemosensors, transistors, and nanocomposites based on their properties such as high aspect ratio, high electrical conductivity as well as high chemical and thermal stability. Polystyrene, a conventional polymer for insulating materials, has been recently exploited for the preparation of nanocomposites. Here we report a facile solid state method to prepare polystyrene-wrapped carbon nanotubes by using the high-speed vibration milling technique. The products could be well dispersed in several organic solvents. Characterization was performed in detail by UV-VIS and NIR spectroscopy as well as by and the measurement of their electronic properties, SEM, and TEM. |
