Synthesis of a Polyacetylene with Thiophene Substituents and Its Electro-Optical and Electrochemical Properties |

In this study,a polyacetylene having thiophene substituent was preparedfrom the polymerization of thienylacetylene by using various transition metalcatalysts. The chemical structure of polymer was characterized by various instrumental methods to have a polyacetylene polymer lackbone with thienyl substituents. The electro-optical and electrochemical properties of the resulting conjugated polymer were studied. The cyclovoltammograms of polymer exhibited the irreversible electrochemical behaviors between the doping and undoping peaks. The kinetics of the redox process of polymer was controlled by the diffusion process from the experiment plotting the oxidation current density of polymer versus the scan rate. |
