제목 | Study of electronic structure and mechanism of Ni-Fe hydroxide based electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction |
초록 | In water electrolyzer systems, oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts are very important to reduce costs for system commercialization. In this regard, Ni-Fe based hydroxides are particularly well known as an effective electrocatalyst for OER. However, their mechanism are still unclear. Here in, we report Ni-Fe hydroxide catalyst supported on carbon (Ni-Fe/C) and their electrochemical properties were measured. The overpotential of Ni-Fe/C is 244.8 V at 10 mA cm-2. Furthermore, we investigated the electronic structure of Ni-Fe/C during OER operating condition using in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). And Ni and Fe structure of the electrocatalyst (K-edges) were measured to identify their oxidation states and local atomic structure. XANES data showed that the oxidation state of Ni changed from Ni2+ to more than Ni3+ even Ni4+ during OER in alkaline electrolytes. Based on these results, we offer new insight into the mechanism of Ni-Fe hydroxide electrocatalyst for OER. |
