Due to toxicity and volatility of some catalyst, it permeate throughout its environment and yet these catalysts are, in many cases, essential for organic synthesis. Microreactors have been proven to be efficient tools for a variety of organic transformations due to their mixing efficiency, better heat and mass transfer, and simple scale-up. However, in heterogeneous catalytic reactions, after performing reactions the catalyst remain in exposed condition with surrounding and continue to expose into environment. Herein, a versatile approach to switch on and off phenomena of reactions of some toxic metal catalyst were shown into the microreactor to prevent exposure of toxic metal to environment after use. For this purpose, a polystyrene and poly(4-vinylpyridine) based heteroarm star copolymer were synthesised, immobilized in microreactor and performed catalytic reactions. |
