제목 Effect of surface modified magnesium hydroxide on mechanical and biological properties of poly(L-lactic acid) based composite
초록 Poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA) has been widely used in biomedical applications such as vascular stents due to good biocompatibility. Magnesium hydroxide(MH) can improve mechanical properties of polymer matrix and alleviate inflammation by neutralizing pH during hydrolytic degradation. However, the MH particles easily agglomerate together, resulting in poor dispersion of MH particles in the polymer matrix. In this work, surface-modified MH(m-MH) was developed to improve mechanical and biological properties of PLLA more effectively. The PLLA composites were confirmed by FTIR, TGA, tensile testing, SEM, and pH measurements. In addition, the cytotoxicity and inflammatory response of both human coronary artery endothelial(HCAEC) and smooth muscle cells(HCASMC) were evaluated by CCK-8 and IL-6/IL-8 production, respectively. The results showed that the PLLA/m-MH composites demonstrated not only the higher mechanical performance but also better biocompatibility compared to PLLA/MH composites.
