This paper described formation of novel chitosan-gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) polyelectrolyte complexes by interactions between chitosan and GHB. Chitosan-electrolyte complexes was prepared through two-step processes. GHB was made from hydrolysis of gamma-butyrolacton (GBL) at 65℃ with stirring for 48 hours. And then chitosan dissolved in GHB solution. Prepared chitosan-electrolyte complexes were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, UV spectroscopy, Elemental analysis (EA). Thermal property was observed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). |
