제목 Spontaneous Surface Flatteningvia Interdiffusion of Polyelectrolyte Multilayers and Its Application to Polymer Solar Cell
초록 We present a novel and robust means of surface flattening of non-planar surfaces by utilizing the interdiffusion of weakly charged polyelectrolyte multilayers(PEM). Spontaneous surface flattening can be achieved via alternative layer-by-layer deposition of cationic linear polyethylenimine and anionic poly(acrylic acid). This pair of PEs is known to exhibit intriguing properties of interdiffusion and high mobility even in the ionically complexed structures. Through a use of these inherent characteristics, we demonstrated a spontaneous planarization of nano-patterned surfaces. We confirmed that the surface flattening effects strongly depends on the type of PEs pair. For instance, use of non-interdiffusional PEs or strongly charged PEs rarely achieve the purpose of surface flattening. Finally, the applicability of surface flattening for polymer solar cells has been investigated, where the efficiency of solar cells can be improved by the enhanced transmittance of flattened ITO electrodes.
