Synergic effect of hybrid fillers on the thermal conductivity of PLA composite |

The recent development of thermal interface materials demands effective heat dissipation as well as improved mechanical properties. In this study, we fabricated PLA composite filled with surface modified and thermally conductive fillers, alumina and nano- aluminum nitride particles, using solution casting methods. The synergic effect between the hybrid fillers is expected to improve the thermal conductivity of the composite. The thermal conductivity of PLA composite with 50% filler loading percentage showed 150% improvement when compared to that of the neat PLA. In addition, the composites became highly rigid with the increase in the filler loading. In general, the PLA composites synthesized exhibit enhanced thermal conductivity which makes them be a good candidate for thermal interface materials. |
