제목 Mechanical and rheological study of CNF-PLA composites : Effects of surface modifications to CNF decorated with inorganic materials
초록 Much studies have recently been conducted to apply cellulose nanofiber (CNF) as a reinforcement filler to polymer composites to enhance eco-friendliness, biodegradability, and mechanical strength. However, due to low thermal stability and strong interaction between the fibers, thermal oxidation and poor dispersion of CNF are important issues in melt mixing processes. Previously, by introduction of inorganic materials on the CNF (mCNF), thermal oxidation was reduced and at the same time dispersion was enhanced due to reduction in van der Waals interaction resulting from the surface roughness. In this study, dispersion and mechanical strength were further enhanced by a post-treatment on mCNF using a high boiling point liquid and chemical modification for improving compatibilization to a polymer matrix, respectively. The surface-modified CNF was mixed with polylactic acid using a melt-mixer. Physical and rheological properties of the composites will be presented.
