Recently, there have been intense interests in chemical and biological sensors based on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) due to capability of responding to changes of various stimuli. In particular, adopting noble metal nanoparticles onto polymer brushes, real-time determination of swelling/deswelling behaviors of polymer brushes has provided simple, convenient, and efficient LSPR nanosensors of organic liquids. Here, we extend the analytical potential of plasmonic nanocomposites by formatting two polymer brush followed by fixation of two noble nanoparticles. As the dual-responsive nanocomposites respond differently depending on the degree of polymer swelling in the surrounding liquids, it identifies organic solvents with a significantly enhanced precision. Moreover, the mixed compositions of two known liquids can also be estimated accurately, suggesting that the dual-responsive nanocomposites would be utilized for the in-situ monitoring of change in solvent compositions. |
