Study of detecting sensitivity to Cadmium Ions (Cd2+) by Gold-Silica Nanocomposites (GNP-SiO2) with diverse surface area of Silica |

Contamination of groundwater by heavy metal ions has been an issue in environmental. Many factories have to deal with purification facilities before draining the polluted solution off. However there are leakage risks of a little heavy metal though fine purification is treated. Therefore detecting method for heavy metal in groundwater is needed even if its concentration is very small. We used GNP-SiO2 to detect Cd2+ since GNP has colorimetric property which changes its color by aggregating each other and high porous silica has an advantage to absorb metal ion. GNP-SiO2 are prepared by reaction of GNP and silica modified by thiol group. Cd2+ detecting test was conducted with GNP-SiO2 on different concentration condition of Cd2+. Then degree of contamination was observed as color change of GNP-SiO2. Moreover we studied sensitivity contrast in detecting by using silica having diverse surface area. The samples were confirmed by FTIR, UV-Spectra, BET, SEM and TEM. |
