제목 | Polyamic acids for Alignment Films of Vertically Aligned LCD with good wettability |
초록 | A series of the polyamic acids (PAA-1) has been synthesized from cyclobutane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride and 4,4’-diaminodiphenylmethane and functional diamine, 4’-[12-(3,5-diaminophenoxy)dodecyloxy] biphenyl-4-carbonitrile for vertically aligned liquid crystal alignment layer with good spreading property. The inherent viscosities of the resulting PAAs measured in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone were in the range of 0.2-1.0 dL/g, which decreased with the increase of the content of 4’-[12-(3,5-diaminophenoxy) dodecyloxy] biphenyl-4-carbonitrile. The spreading property of liquid crystals on the polyamic acids had been investigated and compared to those of the polyamic acid (PAA-2) prepared from 1-(3,5-diaminophenyl)-3-(1-octadecyl)-succinicimide with non-polar alkyl side chain. The spreading coefficient of liquid crystal on PAA-1 film ranged from 12.2 to 13.7, which was remarkably increased compared to those of PAA-2. We had also measured pretilt angle of liquid crystal onto the polyimide surface, which were shown high pretilt angle (>89°) in spite of increasing of surface tension. Figure 1.
