Organic nanotubes are getting increasing interests due to the inherent characteristics of their 1D structures and facile modulation of functionalities. 1D organic nanotubes are not easily producible using various methods which are often used to produce carbon nanotubes. In this study, AAO (anodized aluminum oxide) membranes which have regular cylindrical pores with sizes of 10 ~ 200 nm, were used as templates for formation of rubrene nanotubes. Various template filling processes such as melting, dropping, and dipping were tried to optimize the templating processes. Semiconducting rubrene nanotubes with length of several um and width of 200 nm were routinely obtained after templating and subsequent template removing. Their 1D structures and electrical properties of rubrene nanotubes will be discussed. |
