Synthesis and Electrochemical Performances of LiMn2-xNixO4 Spinel as Cathode Materials for Secondary Lithium Batteries |

In order to develop cathode materials with high energy density, LiMn2-xNixO4 get much attention as they have high operating voltage of ~ 4.7 V. However, application for the commercial cell is hampered by the poor cycle life due to the instability of the electrolyte/cathode surface. Various LiMn2-xNixO4 (0≤x≤0.5) samples are prepared by solid state reaction. Surface modification is carried out by wet chemical method. Structure, morphology and electrochemical properties are influenced by the composition as well as the synthesis conditions. Surface modified LiMn2-xNixO4 samples give improved rate capability and cyclability. |
