Polyimide is used in various industries as a representative engineering plastic. Its application to flexible displays, solar cells is increasing. However, harsh movements inherent in flexible devices during their use, along with the brittleness of the colorless polyimides (CPIs), can easily cause micro-level damage during service. To solve this problem, in this study, self-healing polymer bilayer films (PBFs) were designed in response to various environments. CPIs was used for the bottom substrate, and a polydimethylsiloxane film impregnated with microcapsules (LOMC) containing linseed oil was used as the upper healing layer. PBF loaded with 5wt% of LOMC showed excellent transparency and self-healing properties under various conditions. The proposed approach advances the extrinsic healing of colorless polymers in a kinetically effective way without compromising their chemical composition. |
