Fluorinated surfaces are sought for a number of technologies requiring low surface free energy, low adhesion, chemical robustness, among other desired properties. Fluorinated acrylic coating agents can be used as valuable hydrophobic film-forming materials; they are very economic due to the use of low fluorine capacity. It is also useful to fabricate fluorinated coatings with high hydrophobic properties on the hydrophillic film surfaces. In this study, fluorinated acrylic coating agents were prepared by solution copolymerization of some kinds of monomers containing fluorinated monomers obtained by the reaction of 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate(TDI) with some kinds of fluoro alcohols and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA); styrene, methyl methacrylate, butyl methacrylate and acrylamide as comonomers and pentafluoro propanol and hexafluoro butanol as fluoro alcohols were used, respectively. The products could be characterized by FT-IR and H1-NMR spectroscopy. These were completely soluble in strong polar organic solvents such as DMSO, DMAc and DMF, etc.
