Cation pre-intercalated vanadate have received a lot of attention as cathode materials of aqueous zinc-ion batteries owing to high theoretical capacity and enhanced electron transfer by pre-intercalated cation. For lithium-ion batteries, the pre-intercalated cations in vanadate layers improve the cyclic stability because intercalated cations prevent the structural collapse. However, the interaction between the pre-intercalated cations and zinc-ion charge carriers has not been reported in zinc-ion batteries field. In this study, 3 types of alkali-cation (NH4+, Na+ and K+) pre-intercalated vanadate nanofibers were synthesized by a simple sonochemical method. The electrochemical interactions between zinc ions, pre-intercalated cation species and vanadate layer during charge/discharge was figured out through electrochemical and physical analysis. As a result, the cycle stability of zinc-ion battery was improved as the ion radius of the intercalated cation increases. |
