Antibacterial properties poly(acrylic acid) hydrogel containing zinc particle prepared by gamma-ray irradiation |
초록 |
Zinc has long been reported to have a strong antibacterial effect in small amounts, and the possibility of incorporating antimicrobial zinc particles into poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) used in such devices might be a way to reduce the amounts of dermatitis and odors occurring from a bacterially mediated breakdown. In this study, PAA powder was completely dissolved in distilled water at room temperature. Water-insoluble zinc oxide and chloride powder were added into the PAA solution and stirred until totally dissolved. Finally, the mixture was irradiated by gamma-ray irradiation to make crosslinking. The antibacterial activity of the hydrogel was investigated and confirmed against both gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus) and gram-negative Escherichia coli (E.coli) strains. |
