Organic-inorganic hybrid coatings containing triazine were obtained by sol-gel process to protect iron substrates against corrosion. Sol-gel precursor containing anti-corrosion properties were synthesized by the reaction of triazine triethanol and 3-isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane. Modified epoxy, sol-gel precursors, tetraethoxysilane, HCl, H2O, and DDM were dissolved in THF and stirred at room temperature for 2h. The resulting mixture was coated on iron substrates by dip-coating and thermally cured to 80℃ for 3h and 160℃ 12h. The scratch resistance of hybrid coatings was measured by pencil hardness test and anti-corrosion properties of hybrid coatings were studied by salt spray test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The corrosion protection ability of hybrid coatings prepared from triazine-containing sol-gel precursor was higher than that of coatings from TEOS. |
