For the preparation of multi-functional coatings havingboth corrosion protection and wear resistnace, new sol-gel precursors containing anticorrosion functional groupswere prepared.The coatingsincluded conventional sol-gel precursor, anticorrosion sol-gel precursor, catalst, and modified epoxy. Depending on the type of sol-gel precursor, content of each ingredient, several coating formulations were prepared and coated on iron and aluminum substrates by either dip-coating or spin-coating, The corrosion protection properties were investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and slay spray test, and the pencil hardness test was used to measure wear resistance. |
