Recently, the power conversion efficiency of polymer solar cells has steadily improved due to the developments of new materials and device architectures. Introduction of new donor-acceptor type polymers was in the center of PCE improvement. HOMO and LUMO control is very important to achieve high efficiency polymer, because two factors out of three key factors to determine the solar cell efficiency, short circuit current (Jsc) and open circuit voltage (Voc), is directly governed by HOMO and LUMO level of the polymer. Donor-acceptor type low band gap polymer is commonly achieved by co-polymerization of electron withdrawing group (donor part) and electron donating group (acceptor part). We will report the new donor-acceptor type polymers, which were synthesized by incorporating functional component. Other approaches to large area sub-module polymer solar cells will also be treated. |
