The effect of modification of hexadecanethiol self-assembled monolayer on energy level alignment bewteen pentacene and gold |
초록 |
We studied the injection barrier between pentacene and 1-hexadecanethiol by measuring ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy. Generally 1-haxdecanethiol is known to lower work function of metal leading to raise hole injection barrier. Through this study, we found smaller injection barrier between 1-hexadecanethiol-modified gold and pentacene even though its work function is 0.8 eV smaller than bare gold. This smaller injection barrier on 1-hexadecanethiol modified gold is caused by smaller induced density of states and well ordered structure of pentacene molecules on the modified gold, which was observed by X-ray diffraction. |
