Synthesis and Properties of Methacrylate Polymers Having Renewable Cardanol Side Chain for Coating Application |
초록 |
Antibacterial monomer, 2-hydroxy-3-cardanylpropyl methacrylate (HCPM), was synthesized by reacting cardanol with glycidyl methacrylate in the presence of base catalyst, and copolymerized with different ratios of HCPM and methyl methacrylate (MMA) via free radical polymerization. Transparent and highly glossy films could be prepared by drop casting method and their surface hardness increased after UV light irradiation due the formation of the self-cross-linked structures from the double bonds in the cardanol moieties. Also, copolymers show high antibacterial property, although small amount of antibacterial moiety are contained in the polymers. |
