The aluminosilicate-resin ball with 500 nm (AlSiRB500) was carbonized under various conditions and the physical properties of the carbon nano ball (CNB) were estimated. The optimum condition of carbonization was determined by TGA as heating rate of 10oC/min up to 750oC. The vapor atmosphere was conditioned by using water bubbled in N2 flow of 50 cc/min. The CNB carbonized in N2 atmosphere shows 1430 m2/g of surface area, 1.7 cc/g of total pore volume and 4.7 nm of average pore diameter. The CNB in vapor/N2 atmosphere at holding time of 1 hr shows 1658 m2/g, 2.07 cc/g and 5 nm, respectively. The CNB in vapor/N2 atmosphere at 850oC shows 1857 m2/g, 2.34 cc/g and 5 nm, respectively. The CNB in vapor/N2 flow of 80 cc/min was 1819 m2/g, 2.05 cc/g and 4.5 nm, respectively. These results suggest that the vapor method can control the physical properties, such as surface area, pore volume and diameter, of the CNB. |
