In this study, mesoporous silica was synthesized using poly (ethylene glycol)-block- poly (propylene glycol)-block-poly (ethylene glycol) (P123) as template and tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as structure directing agent. Through the post-synthesis treatment, pore surface of mesoporous silica was modified with aminosilane and then Eu complex was incorporated in the modified mesoporous silica. The structure of mesoporous silica was characterized by small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) patterns, transmission electron micrograph (TEM) image. The successful modification and incorporation of mesoporous silica were verified by FT-IR spectra and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms. The fluorescence spectra were measured to verify the special optical properties of the Eu incorporated mesoporous silica. For several pH solution, Eu incorporated mesoporous silica shows different fluorescence spectra. These properties show the possibility of the application of Eu incorporated mesoporous silica as a pH sensor or detector. |
