제목 | Sulfonated Polyimide – PEGDA IPN for the application as Electrolyte Membrane for Fuel Cells |
초록 | This paper presents the synthesis and characterization of new sulfonated polyimide–PEGDA (poly ethylene glycol diacrylate) IPN membranes for the use in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell. A novel sulfonated polyimide is synthesized from 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (NTDA), 4,4’-diaminobiphenyl 2,2’-disulfonic acid (BDSA), 2-bis [4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl] hexafluoropropane (HFBAPP). This sulfonated polyimide is blended with the PEGDA having ethylene oxide group in the main chain. Various sulfonated polyimide-PEGDA IPN having different molar ratio of sulfonic acid group and ethylene oxide group are synthesized and successfully characterized for thermal stability, ion exchange capacity (IEC), water uptake, hydrolytic stability and proton conductivity. All the sulfonated polyimides-PEGDA IPN membrances exhibited three step degradation patterns and the thermal stability decreased as the content of PEGDA increased. Sulfonated polyimides-PEGDA IPN membranes showed higher hydrolytic stability than the pure acid polyimide. Between the sulfonated polyimides-PEGDA the hydrolytic stability increased with increase in the PEGDA content which is attributed to the increase in crosslink density which reduces the polymer swelling resulting in increase of the mechanical stability of the membrane.
