Recently, shell cross-linked polymeric micelles have attracted much interest as novel drug delivery carriers. But very few attempts have been made to study the drug release behavior of shell cross-linked polymeric micelles. In this presentation, investigation of release behavior of shell cross-linked polymeric micelles using model drug was conducted. For the preparation of poly(t-butyl acrylate)-b-polystyrene (PbBA-b-PS), atom transfer radical polymerization was employed. After obtaining desired molecular weight PtBA-b-PS, the t-butyl ester groups were hydrolized to obtain the amphiphilic poly(acrylic acid)-b-polystyrene (PAA-b-PS). After the micellization of PAA-b-PS in an aqueous phase, shell cross-linked polymeric micelles could be obtained by cross-linking of PAA corona using amidation chemistry. Drug uptake and release behavior of the shell cross-linked polymeric micelles will be discussed. |
