Organic semiconducting devices including organic light emitting diodes (OLED) and organic thin film transistors (OTFT), have been attracted much research interest last a few decades. Interfacial property between organic and oxide or metal as well as material and fabrication process, is a crucial factor in improving device performance. Surface chemistry has developed an excellent method to modify oxide or metal surface through nanochemical method of self-assembled monolayer (SAM), which enables us to control adhesion property, surface work function, etc. The surface of ITO, an anode of OLED and the surface of oxide, gate insulator of OTFT could be modified through SAM and we have investigated the modified surface using XPS, AFM, ellipsometry, contact angle measurement and their effects on device performances in OLED and OTFT. In this presentation, the detailed experimental and results will be discussed. |
